POSITION REQUIREMENTS

DURATION - TIME PERIOD - FIELD OF SPECIALITY - LEVEL - LANGUAGES - SALARY -  ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

The requirements for each internship are freely established by each company according to their needs. These parameters are applicable internationally and the student proposed for the position will have to match the characteristics for the job.

DURATION: the standard duration is usually from 2 to 3 months, although time limits range from 6 weeks to 1 year. The company will establish the duration of the internship. In this respect, it is necessary to follow current regulations according to which students who do not belong to the EU cannot do internships longer than 3 months

TIME PERIOD: Besides establishing the duration of the internships, companies must also choose the time period in which they should be done. Candidates will propose a date, bearing in mind the duration and period given by the company.
For obvious reasons, the usual period is from July to September, but the beginning and ending deadlines of each internship range between June 1st and May 31st of the following year.

ESPECIALITAT: Companies may hire students in any specialty admitted by the exchange programme. On the other hand, multiple specialties may be suitable for one position. Together with the specialty, companies must indicate the LEVEL required (first-year students, last-year students, etc).

LANGUAGES: Companies may require one or various languages, depending on their needs or geographical location. Yet English is usually the only language required in most countries, as it gives firms more chances to find a suitable candidate.
On the other hand, language restrictions may clash with other parameters. For example, an internship longer than 3 months will usually be exchanged among EU countries, whereas having Spanish level 1 is usually a requisite of the exchanges with South America, which would go against current regulations about maximum stay in non-EU countries.
Language requisites depend on the level of exigency of the company (obligatory, optional, recommended) and on the proficiency of the student (1. perfect knowledge of the foreign language/mother tongue; 2. intermediate level; 3. basic knowledge).

SALARY: The student will receive a salary during the internship period. The minimum wage is calculated against the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of each country, and it must cover the basic living expenses of the student. In Spain the minimum wage is 600€ per month.
If the company supplies the student with additional allowances, the amount of those could be discounted from the salary.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Companies may include here any other requirements, such as computer or other skills, knowledge of specific subjects, etc.
