Night and day, risk and excitement go hand in hand with high spirits and non-stop fun.

SANT JOAN, CIUTADELLA, MENORCA: The most important event in the holiday calendar of Ciutadella (mENORCA) is the celebration of the festivity of San Juan, on the 23rd and 24th of June. During those days, horsemen ride their horses around the city centre, among great popular excitement.

SANTA TECLA, TARRAGONA: This celebration brings together some of Catalonia’s most emblematic festive traditions. On these days, everyone comes out onto the streets and squares of Tarragona. The central axis of the celebrations is the traditional parade, made up of “big-head” carnival figures and characters who dance to music played on different traditional instruments. One of the most popular events is the Correfoc or fire-running, which is also the closing event of the fiesta. The people run and jump over characters dressed up as devils and dragons, carrying fire. Another much-awaited moment is the spectacular exhibition of castellers or human castles, which reach up to nine tiers high.

TOMATINA, BUNYOL: held on the last Wednesday in August. This unusual fiesta brings together crowds of people every year, ready to have a great time of laugher and fun, hurling tomatoes at each other. Participants at this joyful pitched battle have a wonderful time throwing tomatoes at anything that moves.
