Who are we?
IAESTE (International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience ) is an international non-profit association with a presence in more than 80 countries. It represents the interests of students, companies and universities through paid internships abroad.
Each year, hundreds of students have the opportunity to broaden their professional and personal knowledge by working in companies in different parts of the world for periods ranging from one month to one year.
In addition to being a professional experience, IAESTE provides students with an enriching personal and cultural experience that helps them achieve their goals, offers them new perspectives and enables them to overcome cultural prejudices.
The association was founded in January 1948 at Imperial College London by representatives from 10 European countries. Since then, IAESTE has been expanding worldwide. Since its inception, IAESTE has exchanged more than 350,000 internships globally and has played a key role in the development of young scientists and engineers. It became a registered corporation under Luxembourg law in 2005 and Spain became a member in 1951.
What do we do?
In Spain, our students have the opportunity to spend time abroad while students from all over the world come to do their internships.
The evolution and growth of IAESTE over the years is possible thanks to the voluntary effort and dedication of hundreds of students who carry out various activities. These are not only fundamental to the functioning of the organization, but also provide a valuable learning opportunity. These activities are very diverse and include from the reception and hosting of foreign students, to the organization of events, the implementation of marketing strategies, the management of contacts with companies and bureaucratic procedures, among others.
